USA sends mediators to Russia and Ukraine with a plan to 'end the war'

The diplomatic mission arrives as the war in Ukraine enters its fifth year. Trump had promised to end the conflict on his first day back in the White House but recently admitted the situation is more complex than expected, even blaming Ukraine for the Russian invasion and a "personality problem" among the leaders.

Kushner and Witkoff had already been to Moscow in January to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who last Wednesday described the negotiations as "frozen." Previous peace efforts have not yielded tangible results, and Trump has not provided details on the new plan, including whether it involves Ukrainian territorial concessions to Russia as previously suggested. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov did not confirm the visit, saying only that the media would be informed if such a meeting took place.
