Unusually hot weekend, then a mid-week shift with bad weather.

On Saturday, September 5th, Italy is under the influence of the African Anticyclone, which ensures sunny weather and very hot temperatures across most of the country. Maximum temperatures range between 30 and 36 degrees Celsius, with light winds. Only in Friuli are isolated showers possible in the mountainous areas during the afternoon.

On Sunday, September 6th, stable and predominantly sunny weather persists, with no significant rain or thunderstorms. Maximum temperatures remain steady or slightly decrease. The high pressure continues to inhibit afternoon instability, even in the mountains.

The anomalous heatwave, with temperatures up to 6/8 degrees above average, is caused by the African Anticyclone persisting over the Mediterranean and Italy, preventing the arrival of Atlantic disturbances. The anomaly is particularly pronounced in the Alpine regions, where the freezing level rises to 4400/4600 meters.

A change in circulation is expected from mid-week, with the arrival of the first Atlantic disturbance of the month in the North on Wednesday, the 9th. This disturbance, then moving to the Center and South, will end the heat, bringing temperatures back to average, but may lead to severe weather with intense and heavy precipitation.
