San Marco Museum: New Guide and Rich Autumn Program Presented

The San Marco Museum in Florence exceptionally opened yesterday, September 21, 2026, to present the new museum guide published by Electa and unveil the packed calendar of autumn initiatives. The event, introduced by the regional director of the National Museums of Tuscany, Carlotta Paola Brovadan, featured the presentation of the guide by authors Elisabetta Berti and Marco Mozzo, in dialogue with art historian Giorgio Bonsanti.

The presented program includes a rich season of music, meetings, and new visiting opportunities, resulting from partnerships with local cultural institutions. Already last evening, the first concert of the FloReMus festival was held in the Cenacolo of Andrea del Sarto. On Saturday, September 26, on the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the museum and the cenacolo will be exceptionally open in the afternoon.

The San Marco Museum, housed in the former Dominican convent of Florence, is renowned for hosting the frescoes of Beato Angelico and a significant artistic heritage. The Regional Directorate of National Museums of Tuscany, led by Carlotta Paola Brovadan, has launched a strategy to transform the museum into a cultural infrastructure open to the city, capable of generating relationships and participation.

This vision is realized through a network of established collaborations with entities such as the Fondazione Fondamenta (of the Electa publishing house), Fondazione Fabbrica Europa, Orchestra della Toscana, the National Dance Production Center Virgilio Sieni, and other public and private institutions. The goal is to progressively expand the cultural offerings, moving beyond the simple exhibition of collections to include Renaissance music, dossier exhibitions, family workshops, and accessibility projects, thereby reaching diverse audiences.
