The autopsy on the body of Gjovalin Lazri, the 36-year-old man killed during an attempted burglary in Baldissero d'Alba (Cuneo), determined that a single bullet caused his death. The examination, conducted at the Civic Mortuary in Turin and lasting over three hours, revealed that the bullet entered one side of the neck and exited the other. The specialists agreed on the need for an on-site inspection to complete the reconstruction.

Roberto Mollo, the 35-year-old owner of the farmhouse who fired the shots, is under investigation for voluntary homicide and attempted homicide. He stated that he pulled the trigger twelve times from the balcony on the night of September 20, in the darkness punctuated by the lights of the alleged thieves' flashlights. The audio of his confused call to 112 was released by Tg1.

Lazri's partner has asked that "justice run its course," asserting that "there are no good people and bad people." The full results of the autopsy, crucial for determining whether it was voluntary homicide, manslaughter, or excessive self-defense, will be filed within sixty days.

The incident originated on the night between September 19th and 20th, 2026, in Baldissero d'Alba, in the province of Cuneo. According to the reconstruction, Gjovalin Lazri, a 36-year-old of Albanian origin, entered a farmhouse owned by Roberto Mollo, a 35-year-old truck driver, along with some companions. The building was under renovation, and Mollo, fearing theft, had decided to spend the night there, bringing with him a 'Steyr 9x21' pistol, held for sporting use but not authorized at that location.

The situation escalated when Mollo, from the balcony, fired twelve shots towards the shadows in the courtyard, illuminated by the torches of the alleged thieves. Lazri was hit and was found about forty meters away. The case immediately raised complex legal questions, centered on the boundary between legitimate defense and negligent or intentional excess, in the context of an attempted theft involving multiple intruders.

The investigation by the Asti prosecutor's office, entrusted to the Carabinieri of Cuneo, continues to clarify the exact dynamics. Crucial elements are the bullet's trajectory, the body's position, and the possibility of a ricochet, given that there were construction scaffolds between the balcony and the courtyard. Mollo's defense maintains that their client "did not want to kill anyone" and that he was protecting the property.
