Imperia enters the AI circuit with an international hackathon of 5,000 participants.
The Imperiaware digital hub hosts the ideas marathon together with Milan and Rome. Goal: find AI solutions for business and everyday problems.
The news

Imperia officially enters the international artificial intelligence circuit, joining Milan and Rome as the only other Italian location for the AMD Developer Hackathon: ACT III. The competition, which began on October 17th at the Imperiaware digital hub, involves 5,000 participants from around the world who will work in teams for two days to transform ideas into concrete AI projects.

The goal is to develop solutions for everyday and business problems, from document management to customer service, work organization, and tourism services. The initiative, organized by lablab.ai, is sponsored by Confindustria Imperia and involves collaboration with Imperiaware and CodeDesign srl, with partners such as AMD and Google DeepMind.

The event serves as a testing ground to understand which ideas may find application in local activities and whether lasting collaborations beyond the competition itself can emerge from the meeting of students, professionals, and entrepreneurs.

The context

The event stems from the desire to bring the opportunities of artificial intelligence to areas not traditionally associated with high-tech. The initiative was conceived by Andrea Marazzi, CEO and co-founder of lablab.ai, who has ties to the Imperia region and aims to leverage the connections he has built abroad. Local entrepreneurs Francesco Landolfi and Andrea Belloni have joined his proposal.

The project is part of a broader technological development path for the region, which includes the launch of the University of Genoa's Computer Engineering degree program in Imperia. Confindustria Imperia looks beyond the event itself, intending to build a lasting relationship between those who understand the needs of local production activities and those with the expertise to develop new technological tools.

According to Marazzi, AI is creating job and business opportunities accessible to an increasingly large number of people, regardless of their geographic location and with more limited initial capital than in the past. This profoundly changes the possibilities for regions like Imperia, which have traditionally been less involved in technological revolutions.
