Seishun Buta Yarou wa Dear Friend no Yume wo Minai

A direct sequel to the film Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus, this new chapter in the Rascal Does Not Dream saga sees CloverWorks return at the helm of one of recent Japanese animation's most beloved romantic-psychological series. The plot picks up from the collective shock triggered by the revelation that the mysterious internet singer is secretly the nation's most beloved actress, Mai Sakurajima, an event that matches exactly a premonitory dream Sakuta Azusagawa once had. From that moment on, seemingly impossible events start piling up, while the hashtag "Yumemiru," tied to wishes coming true, mysteriously vanishes from social media.

Forced to confront an alternate version of himself from a different reality, Sakuta sets out on a mission to stop Touko Kirishima before reality is irreversibly rewritten, in what promises to be one of the most ambitious explorations yet of the "Adolescence Syndrome" concept underpinning the entire saga. The film continues the series' tradition of exploring identity, perception and personal growth through a fantastical register tinged with romance, with CloverWorks tasked with upholding the visual and emotional standard that has made Rascal Does Not Dream a touchstone for fans of the genre.
