Onslaught

After handling the giants of the MonsterVerse, Adam Wingard returns to a more aggressive, genre-driven cinema with "Onslaught - Final Assault," an action-horror film produced by A24 and distributed in Italy by I Wonder Pictures starting October 1, 2026. Set in the New Mexico desert, the film stars Adria Arjona as a former sniper forced to use her skills again to protect her daughter from an assault by genetically modified supersoldiers escaped from a secret laboratory. Early reviews, which give it a 73% on Rotten Tomatoes, describe it as a brutal and eccentric homage to exploitation cinema and B-movies, comparing it to the style of John Carpenter and characterizing it for its frenetic pace and spectacular violence.

With a cast that also includes Dan Stevens, Rebecca Hall, and a cameo from UFC champion Alex Pereira, "Onslaught" aims to be a return to Wingard's roots, favoring a visceral and over-the-top approach to genre blending.
