Monsters of God

The second season of "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters," the Apple TV+ series co-produced with Toho and set in the MonsterVerse, continues the story of the Randa family as they deal with the aftermath of rescuing Keiko from the Axis Mundi and the arrival of a mysterious Titan X. While the visual effects and action sequences featuring kaiju, including Godzilla and Kong, remain an impressive spectacle, the narrative focuses more on family dramas and the internal conflicts of characters like Cate, Kentaro, and Hiroshi, at the expense of the mystery and balance between past and present that defined the first season. The series' central message, strongly reiterated, is that the real monsters are not the giant creatures—often portrayed as victims or guardians—but humans, represented by the ruthless Apex corporation and their greed-driven actions.

Although the season shows a growing maturity in exploring the emotional side of the franchise, some critics have noted its uneven pacing and excessive anthropocentrism.
