Not a Stranger

Not a Stranger, distributed globally on Netflix starting September 17, 2026, is a Turkish psychological thriller that weaves horror into the fabric of domestic normalcy. Created by Tuğba Doğan and directed by Mert Baykal, the series follows Funda, an artist portrayed by Elçin Sangu, who hires the nanny Nazlı—an impeccable yet unsettling Melis Sezen—to return to work. The strength of the series lies in building suspense not through supernatural elements, but through asymmetrical knowledge and the dependency that arises in a dual-income family, intelligently exploring themes of motherhood, guilt, and intrusion.

Produced by Bombon Studios, Not a Stranger perfectly embodies Netflix’s strategy of exporting local thrillers, like this Turkish one, through universal premises and a cast of familiar faces, including Ozan Dolunay in the role of the husband.
