I giocatori popolano un'isola con i propri Mii personalizzabili e ne osservano le interazioni surreali e comiche, gestendo relazioni e sbloccando contenuti in un esperimento di narrativa emergente senza obiettivi fissi.
After over a decade of waiting, Nintendo revives its quirky life simulation with "Tomodachi Life: A Dream Life," released in April 2026 for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Developed by Nintendo, the game revisits the madcap concept of the original 2013 installment, allowing players to populate an island with their Mii characters and watch as they live, interact, and generate surreal and humorous stories. Compared to its predecessor, this new version introduces greater control over relationships, a deeply revamped Mii editor, and the long-awaited support for same-sex relationships and non-binary identities, finally putting to rest the controversy of 2014.
The real innovation is the Design Studio, which offers nearly limitless creative freedom to customize objects, clothing, and even building appearances. However, the game comes with some compromises, such as a maximum cap of 70 Miis (down from 100 on the 3DS), an intentionally slow progression pace, and the absence of true multiplayer. Despite some repetitiveness in interactions and limitations in sharing user-created content, "Tomodachi Life: A Dream Life" reaffirms itself as a unique and endearing digital hallucinationโa meme and absurd story generator that shines brightest in its ability to bring smiles to those who invest time and creativity.
