Chuck Wendig, author of hits like "Wanderers" and "The Book of Accidents," launches his new mammoth horror novel: "The Calamities." Described as a fusion of "Game of Thrones," "The Dark Tower," and "The Godfather," but with demons, the book brings a major crime family energy to a supernatural saga.
The story, dubbed "horror Succession," follows the homecoming of the prodigal son of a demonic family, in a world secretly ruled by these entities. At nearly six hundred pages, the novel is a vast and complex work, filled with mythology, secrets, and a sprawling cast of characters, whose narrative style creates a claustrophobic and bloody atmosphere.
"The Calamities" is just the first step in "The Fiends" saga and ends with a cliffhanger that sets the stage for the sequel, already announced with the title "Chaos Reigns." The book, dark and without a happy ending, will be available starting August 18, 2026.
