September 9th has officially become a date for Attack on Titan fans. The Japan Anniversary Association has registered this date as "Attack on Titan Day," commemorating the day in 2009 when Hajime Isayama's manga began serialization in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. A special visual incorporating the date and the Nine Titans has been released for the occasion.
A series of special projects has been announced to celebrate the day. On Magazine Pocket, the manga will be available for free up to Chapter 99 for a limited period of 99 hours starting at midnight on September 9th (Japan time). A commemorative merchandise line will also be sold through Magazine Shop, featuring products with the new visual and artwork specially drawn by Isayama.
The celebration will culminate with a special livestream on the evening of September 9th. The event will feature Yuki Kaji (voice of Eren Yeager), Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Ackerman), and Hiro Shimono (Connie Springer). The stream will share various updates related to the franchise, with further details to be announced via the official X account.
The franchise recently launched a new themed café in Japan, running from September 3rd to October 12th, 2026. Producer Tetsuya Kinoshita had previously hinted at new anime projects in the works, including plans for new films and collaborations.
