The anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI continues to generate massive phenomena in the market. Following the release of a 26-minute extended preview on the Netflix platform, sales of the PS5 Pro console have surged to the point of nearly depleting stock in the United Kingdom.
The footage, classified by Netflix as a "movie," has achieved significant viewership success, although the numbers on YouTube (17 million) are lower than those of previous trailers. However, the most tangible impact has been felt in the hardware market: the PS5 Pro, considered the best way to play GTA 6 at its November launch, is now practically impossible to find.
Currently, only retailers Very and Sony (via the PlayStation Direct website) still have units in stock. Giants like Amazon, Argos, and Currys have sold out, including refurbished models. The console, with its high price of around £790, was not sold out before the preview was published on Netflix.
With the ongoing component crisis and the approaching holiday season, the shortage of PS5 Pro could persist for months. Sony now faces the challenge of managing a sudden surge in demand as the release date for one of the year's most anticipated titles draws nearer.
