Alice Hoffman, the acclaimed author of the celebrated 'Practical Magic,' is about to launch a new literary series that promises to enchant readers. The first installment, 'The Witches of Cambridge,' will be available starting September 8, 2026, just two days before the film release of 'Practical Magic 2.'
The story takes us to 1950s Massachusetts, far from the colonial witch trials but not from magic. Ava, a brilliant girl from Maine, arrives at Radcliffe College where she meets Lauren, the rebellious daughter of a wealthy Cambridge family. The two discover they have much more in common than expected.
Both are initiated into the Lilith Society, a secret organization of witches at Radcliffe whose origins date back to colonial times. As they explore this magical legacy, Ava and Lauren form a deep bond, tested by the shadow of McCarthyism looming over the country. Hoffman thus returns to her cherished themes, blending magical realism, female bonds, and historical atmospheres.
