Capcom has finally released 'Onimusha: Way of the Sword,' the long-awaited new chapter in the sword-fighting action series. The title is available starting today, September 4, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The story is set in the early Edo period, in a Kyoto infested with demonic creatures called 'Genma.' The protagonist is the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, who obtains demonic powers and embarks on a bloody adventure. The game promises a realistic combat experience with an emphasis on sword clashes and supernatural abilities.
Key features include a combat system that aims to recreate the realistic sensation of cutting, sword clashes that offer tactical exchanges, and action enhanced by demonic powers. The game is rated CERO Z, meaning it is intended for players aged 18 and over.
To celebrate the launch, Capcom has released an official trailer and launched a promotional campaign with prizes such as gaming PCs and themed cushions. Special editions are also available, including a vinyl soundtrack and an artbook.
