During the Nintendo Direct for the series' 40th anniversary, Shigeru Miyamoto finally shared new details about the long-awaited live-action film of The Legend of Zelda. The film will be titled simply "The Legend of Zelda," without any additional subtitle.
Miyamoto explained that the title without a subtitle will make sense once the film is seen. It will be an original story based on the many ideas and concepts developed in the series through four decades of adventures, and not a direct adaptation of a single game.
The creator also confirmed that the Triforce will have a role in the film, hinting that it will be a central element of the plot. The direction is entrusted to Wes Ball, already the director of The Maze Runner trilogy and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
The Legend of Zelda is expected in cinemas worldwide on April 30, 2027. The cast includes Benjamin Evan Ainsworth in the role of Link, Bo Bragason as Zelda, Uli Latukefu as Ganondorf, and Dichen Lachman as Impa.
