The literary and animated sensation 'The Apothecary Diaries' is set to conquer the real world. It has been officially announced that Natsu Hyuga's light novel series, with over 57 million copies in global circulation, will receive a live-action adaptation. The series will be a worldwide exclusive on Prime Video and is set to debut in 2028.
Stepping into the role of the protagonist Maomao will be the acclaimed actress Mana Ashida. Maomao is an eccentric girl obsessed with medicines and poisons, endowed with a brilliant intelligence that allows her to solve the most intricate cases within the court. The production is a collaboration between Toho, the powerhouse behind the series' anime, and Amazon MGM Studios.
Alongside the announcement of the main cast, a teaser visual has been unveiled, depicting Maomao with a firm and dignified expression while holding a handkerchief. Fans of the original work will certainly recognize an iconic scene from the early chapters. The creative team, led by director Yuki Saito and screenwriter Erika Yoshida, has expressed great enthusiasm for the project, promising that they poured all their love for Maomao and her world into every moment of filming.
