Rebecca Yarros claims the top spot on American bestseller lists with "Threshing Day," a collection of 13 stories set in the world of her romantasy series Empyrean. The title refers to the day of trials that aspiring dragon riders face before their final bonding or death.
At around 200 pages, the volume serves as an appetizer for fans awaiting the fourth novel in the series, and the enthusiasm was immediate. In its first week of sales, "Threshing Day" sold so many copies that it positioned itself as the third best-selling book of the year so far.
The Publishers Weekly chart also notes the return of Min Jin Lee, a National Book Award finalist for "Pachinko." Her new novel, "American Hagwon," lands in third place on the hardcover fiction list, launching the third chapter of her Diaspora Quartet.
