The long-awaited return has arrived. 'Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2,' the second season of the award-winning anime produced by Studio TRIGGER, is finally available for streaming on Netflix. The series, which debuted on October 20, 2026, presents a new standalone story of 10 episodes set in the dystopian Night City, the metropolis from CD Projekt Red's video game Cyberpunk 2077.
Described by Netflix itself as "a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge," the season is not a direct sequel to the first. Showrunner Bartosz Sztybor and animation studio TRIGGER reunite for this new adventure, ensuring the same intense visual style and gritty storytelling that made the original series famous.
The first season of 'Cyberpunk: Edgerunners,' released in September 2022, won over both audiences and critics, taking home the Anime of the Year award at the 2023 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. This new chapter aligns with Netflix's ambitious push into adult animation, alongside titles like 'Arcane,' 'Love, Death + Robots,' and 'Castlevania.'
The release of 'Edgerunners 2' coincides with the announcement of a new update for the Cyberpunk 2077 video game, strengthening the bond between the two experiences within the same narrative universe. For fans of the cyberpunk genre and auteur animation, it's a dual event not to be missed.
