Hideo Kojima brings his Death Stranding universe to the anime world with Death Stranding Isolations. Announced in 2025, it is an original story featuring different protagonists from the Death Stranding and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach video games.
The first official trailer, released on October 30, 2026, shows one of the two protagonists, a blonde-haired girl, tormented by visions of Beached Things (BTs), the souls of the dead trapped in the world of the living. The anime's subtitle, "My mom became a crater," references the voidouts, the enormous explosions triggered when a BT consumes a human.
Production is handled by E&H Production, an animation studio founded by MAPPA veteran Sunghoo Park. The direction is by Takyuki Sano (making his directorial debut), while the screenplay is by Tow Ubukata, an award-winning novelist and screenwriter known for Psycho-Pass. The anime is scheduled for 2027, exclusive to the Disney Plus platform.
