Gundam Rogue Orbit: a new beginning for the saga

Gundam Rogue Orbit: a new beginning for the saga
Bandai Namco announces an alternative timeline Gundam action game, with humanity facing an alien threat. Coming in March 2027.

Bandai Namco is set to revolutionize the Gundam franchise with a new chapter that marks a sharp break from tradition. Gundam: Rogue Orbit, announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on March 5, 2027, abandons political conflicts between humans to present a united humanity facing an alien threat called Apocalypse.

The game takes place in a new timeline created by the RG Project, where an autonomous object from another galaxy gifted advanced technology to humanity before generating an aggressive, self-replicating ecosystem. Forced to abandon Earth, players will assume the role of elite pilot RE-X, commanding the Gundam Helix assisted by the intelligent unit Haro Vii.

Footage shown at the Tokyo Game Show reveals a fast-paced, modern action gameplay style, a departure from the series' typical methodical combat. The Gundam Helix can dash through vast environments, alternating between aerial and ground attacks, with a customization system for weapons, frames, and Apocalypse units.

While sharing the same world as the upcoming anime Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO, Rogue Orbit has been designed as an entry point for newcomers, featuring an original story set after the events of the anime. A bold move that promises to attract both longtime fans and a new audience.
