The 37th edition of Romics, taking place at the Fiera di Roma until October 4th, celebrates a true legend of the interactive entertainment world. Sir Ian Livingstone, the mythical co-founder of the publishing house Games Workshop, will receive the prestigious Romics d'Oro lifetime achievement award.
Livingstone has tied his name to iconic brands like Dungeons & Dragons and Warhammer, decisively contributing to the spread of role-playing games in Europe. His career, which began in 1975 with the founding of Games Workshop alongside Steve Jackson, revolutionized the industry with cornerstones like White Dwarf, Warhammer, and Citadel Miniatures.
Beyond publishing, Livingstone revolutionized gamebooks with the Fighting Fantasy series starting in 1982. His commitment also extended to multimedia, having been among the founders of Eidos Interactive, the production house behind franchises like Hitman, Tomb Raider, and Deus Ex.
The award will be presented on Saturday, October 3rd, at 12 PM in pavilion 8 of the Fiera di Roma, during a panel moderated by Max Giovagnoli. A well-deserved recognition for a figure who has left an indelible mark on multiple forms of contemporary art.
