Kojima unveils PHYSINT: an espionage experience distinct from Metal Gear
Hideo Kojima reveals new details about PHYSINT, his upcoming spy game developed with Xbox, promising action different from Metal Gear.

Hideo Kojima has shared new details about his upcoming action-espionage game PHYSINT, developed in collaboration with Xbox. During the latest episode of the KOJI10 podcast, the Japanese creator explained that the title promises a "new interactive experience" and a type of spy action different from what was seen in the Metal Gear series.

"It's about spies, but I wanted many new ideas and a different kind of spy action. It's quite different," Kojima stated. The director confirmed that production is moving forward with the new partner Xbox, emphasizing how this collaboration represents a significant step for the project.

What distinguishes PHYSINT from Metal Gear is also its ambitious scale and cinematic approach. Kojima has already announced an all-star cast featuring Bill Skarsgård in the lead role, alongside Charlee Fraser, Ma Dong-seok (Don Lee), and Minami Hamabe in supporting roles. Approximately 70% of the cast are said to be fans of the creator.

Kojima described PHYSINT as both a game and a film, with its look, story, themes, cast, acting, fashion, and sound designed with this cinematic approach in mind. Filming will begin next year, in what Kojima calls the culmination of his forty-year career in the video game industry.
