Naruto Meets Ninku: Four-Episode Crossover Anime Announced

Naruto Meets Ninku: Four-Episode Crossover Anime Announced
Masashi Kishimoto fulfills his dream: Naruto meets Ninku, the series that inspired him. A four-episode crossover anime has been announced, supervised by both creators.

An unprecedented crossover brings two ninja worlds together. At New York Comic Con, NARUTO x NINKŪ was announced—a four-episode anime series that will transport Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura into the universe of Ninku, the manga by Kōji Kiriyama that inspired Kishimoto. Without Ninku, Naruto would not exist, the author has stated multiple times, calling Fūsuke the secret mentor of his protagonist.

The production is under the full supervision of both creators, Masashi Kishimoto and Kōji Kiriyama. Directing will be Noriyuki Abe, who directed both the Ninku anime and Boruto, while character design and animation direction are handled by Tetsuya Nishio, a veteran of both series. The original story will feature Naruto as the interim captain of Team 7, on a mission that accidentally leads them into the world of Ninku.

The announcement is part of the broader PROJECT RASENGAN, a multi-year roadmap outlining the future of the franchise. Among other news presented, the NARUTO card game will be released worldwide in June 2027, and a mobile video game is coming globally. To close, a teaser confirmed that Kishimoto is working on a new Naruto manga.
